Description
NOW Foods Slippery Elm Powder is pure powdered inner bark of Ulmus rubra (red elm), a small North American tree that Native Americans and early settlers reportedly used as a survival food. The bark is rich in mucilage, which forms a soothing gel when simmered in water – traditionally sipped or used as a gargle, with a little honey.

Ingredients
Per teaspoon (1.8 g): slippery elm inner bark powder (Ulmus rubra) 1,800 mg; energy 5 kcal; carbohydrate 2 g.

Directions
Adults: stir 1 teaspoon into a cup (about 240 ml) of water and simmer for a few minutes. Let cool, add honey if desired, then sip or gargle for a minute before swallowing. Take other medications at least 2 hours apart. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
